Mika Brzezinski says the Democrats' new
slogan sets them up for failure
by Nathan'ette Burdine: July 25, 2017

Mika Brzezinski, host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” warned the Democrats that the party’s slogan, “A Better Deal,” is ineffective because the party does not have the right person to persuade the American people that the Democrats will give them “A Better Deal.”

Brzezinski said, “They’re setting themselves up here. Coming out with a slogan is just going to create this conversation, at this table, and at tables across America. They need a person who stands for those things in how he or she has lived his life and can communicate those things effectively with his or her voice. Then the slogan should follow.”

And what the Democrats will be “setting themselves up” for is another election lost.

A major problem the Democrats had in the 2014 Mid-Term and 2016 Presidential Elections is their inability to communicate their message to the common folks.

The candidates they put forth were viewed as D.C. elites and not part of working and middle class America.

Now, a person will rightfully ask, “Why is it that Donald Trump, a trust fund baby, was able to win the presidential election?”

Welp, Trump was able to win because he effectively communicated his message on how he was going to “Make America Great Again.”

Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, didn’t do so well with her “Stronger Together” because she failed to communicate how “Stronger Together” would translate into just all around better living.

So as a result, folks chose the trust fund baby over the D.C. politician. Joe Scarborough, the other half of the "Morning Joe" host, added his two cents to the conversation.

He suggested that the Democrats change the slogan to “Take America Back Again” or “Americans First” because talking about “A Better Deal” plays into the Republicans hands.

And he’s right. All the Republicans have to say is that the same people who brought you Obamacare, have failed on Middle Eastern policy, and have not brought middle class paying jobs back are the same ones who want to give you “A Better Deal” that’s the same ol’ deal.

So yeah, Brzezinski and Scarborough are right when they say the Democrats need candidates and a new slogan if the party wants to take control of Congress in 2019 and possibly get the White House back in 2020.
